It's been a couple of months since I was able to listen to my last.fm personal radio (the entire site is blocked on my client's network, and that's where I've spent most of my work time), so I'd forgotten just how amazing it is. It is currently playing me the Paris Hilton single (which, let's just admit, is actually really good), but it was preceded by Siouxsie & the Banshees, before which was Animal Collective and Pavement and Carla Bruni and so on. How is that for knowing me? If I could find a boyfriend that knew me even half as well, I reckon we'd stay together forever and for always.
Wait. Scratch that.
Making last.fm into a relationship metaphor is pretty sad, isn't it?
Yes, yes, it is.
(Still, it's true.)

Whilst listening to
datura800's last.fm station just now, I heard a cover of "I Can See for Miles" by an act called Lord Sitar. Internet radio, you are a strange and wonderful thing.
Kudos to
michaelpop, btw, who was so v. close to hitting the Decemberists' Pitchfork score on the head. He was off by but a tenth. The review was relatively lucid, although the phrase "homosexual undertones" sort of grated on me. When you're gonna follow that up by using "inform" in the liberal arts-y way, at least have the decency to employ "homoerotic," right? Otherwise, you end up sounding just a little too American Family Association. In other words, the opposite of liberal arts-y. :(
[This is the last we'll say about Meloy and co. until next month when they play the Riviera. In other words, I'm not obssessed.]

Herewith, the meme that
kfan thrust upon us.
Apparently you're supposed to shuffle your iPod or iTunes or WinAmp or whatever, but I was listening to my personal radio on last.fm, and as far as I'm concerned, it counts as the same thing. Which to say, I own all of these songs in real life, so I could have shuffled and got this very result.
