Just a quick note that Britta Phillips is an indie rock goddess. Not that she and Dean Wareham make 'indie rock' so much anymore. But still. Not only is she beautiful and talented, her makeup tonight was flawless: in particular, she went with a neutral lip colour so as not to distract from her eyes, which were decked out in false lashes. Oh and we won't even talk about her hair.
The show itself was a nice, laid-back one. Ironically, given that none of them are actually material recorded under the Dean & Britta imprimatur, highlights were 'Tugboat', 'Bonnie & Clyde' and a cover of 'Ceremony'. Also, when the air conditioning switched on (every ten minutes for about 90 seconds -- yes, I was clocking it).
Unrelated: in case I'd not informed you directly, I'm due to be in New York this weekend. Friday to Monday, to be exact. The time is fairly unstructured. I know where I'm staying, and I have plans to see a few shows, but other than that, I'm all yours. Ooh, actually,
wellsussed is wanting to go rent a karaoke room on Friday night, so if you're interested in that, the more, the merrier.
Unrelated, redux: I'd completely forgotten the existence of Girls Aloud's rendition of 'I Think We're Alone Now', and it was better that way. :(
